Bicycles for Kids

Bicycles for Kids is an annual party for young girls and boys from homes where Mom, Dad or both may be missing, out of a job, or not sure when their next meal is coming. The Christmas time party provides the 5–9 year old children with a new bicycle, Children’s Living Bible, plus several small gifts as additional Christmas presents. During the last 26 years, this party has given away approximately 5,750 bicycles with the donations from many families, businesses and organizations.

The event also features a police show along with the fire department and their fire trucks. The police share information about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. The fire fighters discuss the importance of safety with these youngsters. The festivities are complete with a Santa Claus, clowns, face painting, horse and carriage rides, snow, and a basketball show including former NBA players along with the Phoenix Suns Gorilla!

After hot dogs, soda pop, snow cones, popcorn, cookies, candy apples and cotton candy, St. Mary’s Food Bank sends the families home with Holiday Food Boxes which include a fifteen-pound turkey and other holiday food items.
